In addition to improvements in the aerodynamic efficiency of the aircraft structure, considerable efforts are made to reduce engine emissions and to develop new types of propulsion. E.g. with cutting-edge large-volume 3D additive manufacturing processes newly designed engine parts could be manufactured economically.
